Jeep Brand introduces Cherokee, first as a two-door and in 1977 a four-door model.

1984 Jeep Brand introduces the Jeep XJ Cherokee - the world’s first four-door compact four-wheel-drive SUV. This vehicle was shorter, narrower, lower and lighter than the Jeep Wagoneer first introduced in 1962.
1986 Introduction of the Jeep wrangler (YJ).

Chrysler acquires American Motors Corporation and puts the Jeep Brand into Chrysler ownership.

Jeep Grand Cherokee was introduced. It brings a new level to the brand. This year marked the first time a standard air bag was introduced on an SUV.

Jeep Brand introduces the redesigned upscale Grand Cherokee (WJ) with Quadra-Drive®. It almost instantly becomes billed as the "Most Capable Sport Utility Ever."

The all-new Cherokee (Liberty in the U.S.) is introduced, continuing the brand heritage of off-road capabilities. The Next Great Jeep Idea features an IS43 suspension that also delivers outstanding on-road handling and ride.

Introduction of the Jeep Rescue at Detroit Motor Show. Introduction of the Cherokee refresh in October. It is also the 10th anniversary of the US Camp Jeep and the first time Camp Jeep was held in Egypt and South Africa.
