Jeep Club Argentina: Journey to the Heart

Journey to the Heart

The applauses of the children at the passage of the caravan consisting of 22 4x4 vehicles, mostly Jeeps, made more than one shed a tear. The "Journey to the Heart" which Jeep Club Argentina organizes year after year, had reached its destination.

We left at 7.00 in the morning, it was still night and the caravan advanced without hurry, respecting the security measures through the dirt roads that took us to San Clemente first and right after that to camping spot El Condor, where we met with the Cordoban group of Jeep Club. From there on we move forward onto the Ceferino Namuncurą School, our final destination. Even though the road has been significantly improved, we encountered our share of difficulties, which the Jeepers resolved one by one. A long zigzagging tail of vehicles, like a snake moving along the dirt, without hurry but also without pausing, 22 vehicles with on board more or less 70 persons whose only incentive was to arrive and deliver their donations to the children.

Once we arrived, we delivered the donations we had brought, enough to fill a whole classroom.

As we were greeted, we were invited to some empanadas and to a locro (stew of beans, corn and meat) which was truly spectacular for two reasons: because it was tasty and because it had been prepared for us by the school community. For dessert we had a home-baked cake and the thanking word of the school principle crowned our lunch and we went to the schoolyard to play and talk to the kids.

As we left, we were very far away from our hotel, with the promise to return next year, as we had been doing for the last 15 years now. We arrived at the hotel at 21.00 with the 4x4, filled with pride for what we had done, the effort was worth it!

We owe special thanks to Chrysler Argentina S.R.L. and to its network of dealers which once again provided us with donations and vehicles to transport these. Also to Sidus S.A., to Editorial Sudamericana, to gingerbread (?) Guaymayen, to all our members whom accompanied us and those who didn't, but provided us with materials and to the entire staff of Jeep Club.

Big thanks to everyone!
