Jeep Club Portugal: Tego River Run

On June 5th, a group of Jeep enthusiasts went for a ride on south margin of Tejo River. The organization made a recon of the trail one month before to guarantee that everything would run smoothly. We sent the invitations over Jeepzone.eu forum and Jeep Club Portugal page on Facebook. 16 Jeeps attended to the event, of which 13 were 2.8 CRD JK Wrangler, 1 Petrol 4.0 TJ  and 2 2.5 liter Grand Cherokee.

Because it is summer in Portugal, we didn't have any mud, but got plenty of sand, gravel and crossed some small rivers as you can see in the pictures. The difficulty level was low, but we had some hard parts, that almost every Jeep crossed without any problems. In the morning we had trails close to the sea and a well shaded trail between sugar canes that was very well appreciated by the participants. We had also a "difficult" section that almost every Jeep crossed with no pain.

The lunch was a picnic and took place at a nice pleasant and cool place with many trees, where the group had the opportunity to talk about some points of view about the Jeeps and exchange experiences, and of course, eat something. In the afternoon we went for some more action and head to a well know place for the Portuguese offroaders called "Quinta do Conde". There we have lots of fun, ascents and descents of sand and some river crossings.

As the day turned into the evening, and the group was getting hungry, we went to a pre-reserved restaurant to dinner. The participants had the chance to hear the most known kind of music, the Fado.

Everyone had a good time, and we went all happy to home. It has been a very positive event, and it shows that the Portuguese owners like Jeep a lot.
